What Is the Best Time of Day to Snack and Work Out?

Exercise is necessary for a strong, healthy body. So is providing your body with adequate fuel before, during, and after exercise. Although many people sneak a quick workout in at various points during the day whenever they have time, there is actually a time where your workout will be most effective at burning calories and boosting your energy.

The best time to exercise and snack is in the morning, when your workout will boost your metabolism for the entire day. Plan your workout for about an hour after you rise, and have a snack that is high in protein about 15-30 minutes before you work out.

If you can’t find the time or don’t have the motivation to exercise in the morning, the afternoon is also a great time to grab a snack and head for the gym. Exercise before lunch when possible, because working out on a full stomach can be uncomfortable or make you nauseated. Plan for a light snack mid-morning, and get your exercise in before you sit down for lunch. Remember to stay hydrated throughout the day to keep your energy levels up!

Exercise is Less Beneficial in the Evening

Although many people don’t have time to work out until the evening, this is actually the least beneficial time to exercise. Your body should be winding down from the day’s activities, and exercise can boost your energy levels and keep you up late at night.

Do your best to plan a workout in the morning or early afternoon, and don’t forget to grab a healthy snack before exercising in order to give your body the fuel it needs to keep going. Sun Vending offers delicious, healthy snacks that are packed full of protein and perfect for a pre-workout snack.
